Dig Pack Spine

This is my digipacks spine which i created to co-existed with pre-existing images. The blue goes to follow the color scheme of most of the images in my digipack, the golden color writing on king to show the color most associated with royalty and wealth gold. I then left the color white to add simplicity as well as making it straight forward like my artist King J.

Things changed from feedback of first draft

Since we played our first draft to our class we have made a few considerable changes to the video as a whole. The whole costume of King J has changed quite dramatically. Before, King J was predominantly wearing a tracksuit. However, our feedback stated that this costume made the video look a bit like it was from the grime genre. To resolve this we changed the costume so that King J was instead wearing designer clothes such as shirts and jeans with smart shoes. We have also changed some of the locations for our video. For the opening scene of our first draft we had it at some local garages. However, again our feedback said that the video looked too grime like so we changed these locations. The opening scenes will be re-filmed in Greenwich where there is nice scenery and quite prestigious looking buildings. We also filmed at a hill in Thamesmead which had a really nice view of the city around King J. It also showed him from quite high up in order to represent his journey to the top. This idea is also shown through his clothing which is quite rich and more expensive. This is a nice contrast especially in the scenes on the hill.

Production schedule for re-filming

These are the recorded days that my group has gone to do productions and recorded scenes for our music video.

Tuesday 3rd January- 2 hour filming session during lesson (Thamesmead- hill shots)

Wednesday 18th January- 2-3 hour filming session after school (Greenwich Cutty Sark- night shots)

Tuesday 24th January- 2 hour filming session during lesson (Welling- final shots)

These 3 dates were all the shoots we did after our first draft in order to improve our video. On all of these shoots we used our director's camera with no other equipment. This limited us in resources but allowed used our imagination and the skills and techniques which we have been taught to still make a productive filming session.

Digi Pack Fonts

As I'm doing a digipack i thought i would need to find a digipack that could used for me to show my artist's genre and still remain unique and original. I went to the site 'Da Font' and these are what i found

!st Locations

These are some of the locations we decided we may use to film, this is long over due but were going to decide where we should film after more planning.

This location was potentially chosen due to it high amount of graffiti which would show a more urban side.

This was used as a passage way as our Artist moved closer into the tunnel
Although we haven't filmed here we hoped to film here for the final cut

These location were the ones that I thought would fit our music video as there are in my general area and places that I usually pass by everyday.

Words of Wisdom

The issue that i later fixed with this my words of wisdom which covers the lyric books, is the color. what i did for my final one was lower the color making it more dull yet glossy.

Final Album Cover

This is pretty much the same other than adding of the advisory sign in the comer and removing the crown as it looked out of place.

Cd Cover

Cd Cover 2

I made this one last minute because i realized my previous one didn't work out as much being green.

Magazine advert pre digipack

This is my magazine advert, This was rearranged using all the textiles. I had difficulties with getting it straight and making my text even. This was solves through using the ruler tool on Photoshop. I also got a font from Dafont called The Novice which i felt really made it look realistic. To add some flairs i added the yellow text.

Music Video first Draft

This is the first draft of our film day and night. Although it seems a bit patchy, and in synchronized it is a place to start, and it will only continue to get better. We tried to follow our cinematic but as we realized not everything goes as planned.

Final King J Audience Profile

After doing more research and having more knowledge I learned from my partner James what a proper Audience profiling is.
This is King J's Audience Profile

Thursday 3 November 2016

Cover made first draft

I finished my cover but it may change after re consulting others on their opinions and more research in my cover i added my artist's name with a crown on the K to add more iconography, i also used some more street looking typography for the album name "Born and Bred". I used different typography for "King J" because i wanted it to keep it street look but look like it demanded attention with big bold letters representing my artist, who is big, bold, and has a attention attracting nature. Finally i used a famous quote, i believe to be used by a great rapper known as Tupac, "the rose that grew from the concrete". I used this because it shows King Js life in one statement. Finally i showed his background of a city with trees in front and a obvious a far distance away from him and all this but thanks to perspective it also looks like he can reach it in a few steps. I chose to have King J in the corner to give the picture a better beauty, alienating his face as the sun shines on his back forecasting a shadow that extend to the right side of the picture. If looked at carefully the quote starts and ends at his shadow visually showing him to be the rose that grew i the concrete with the help of the sun. Also due to the beautiful whether that day i used the nature blue sky and few clouds to show that he's flying to the top and hopes to remain to the top. However, thanks to the albums name Born and Bred, it can also appear to look like King J is looking at the city and reminiscing about where he's from. This represents that no matter how high he gets in his career he will always remember where he's from.

Pictures from our Photoshoot Photo Log entry

My group all met up for test shots and a photo-shoot for our dig pack. I suggested we do it in Thamesmead as we felt that this location suited our genre well. We shot at 3 different locations and made sure we had a variety of different pictures which we could choose from.

Pictures showcasing our artist and their area

Pictures of views of our artist

 A picture showcasing wealth

The photoshoot was very successful as we took man good shots and angles to showcase our artist and genre. We shot at three different locations

Mise en Scene PT 3

we film recently and thanks to my quick thinking I found some of my moms jewelry which could be used. I know they your judging me but Silver, gold, and diamonds don't have a gender. So I ended up using my Guess watch, and Armani bracelet and two of my silver rings to film. Another good luck is that we filmed in front of my flats using my dads Land Rover to attempt to give the illusion that it was King J's.

Day N Nite Animatic

This is an animation of my groups song Day N Nite. This was made with the purpose of giving a visual on my groups vision of our video. This would involve the different camera angles, and shots we would plan to use. This would also show some embodiment of the ideas that we would have had for our video. Such as Mise en sene and theme. It was made by scanning our story boards. We then would upload it into Final Cut Pro and use different boxes to show the scene corresponding with a version of the Day N Nite audio we planned to use. This seemed very simple and easy to understand to myself and my group however not everyone in our class shared our believe as they found it confusing, possibly because of the quality of the

Music video narrative

after lots of thought my group decided how our Music Video will go.There will essentially be a 3-4 key scenes.

The first is that our artist is running away from his troubled past which included being part of a gang. This scenario will include a group of men who are supposed to be the gang members which King J once was a part of.  This will be shown through the different costumes used. Most of these shots for this scenario will include King J referencing his attempted escape from this group and will even feature a shot of him running away from them, only to find they're waiting for him around the corner. This portrays how difficult it is to escape from these gangs especially for young people.

The second scenario will be how lonely King J is. In his attempt to escape his past life he fled to England. However, this left him isolated from the rest of the crowd which can be clearly seen in the party scene where he is sat on his own looking at everyone else having a good time. He also see the girl that he desires and talking with another man giving him more reason to feel alone.

Thirdly, our music video will contain a scene where King J comes out of a chip shop. This shows a more urban setting as he starts to walk out the gang members come back behind him. This shows how the settings remind him of his past. As they don't interact with him it shows that he will still separate himself from them.

Fourth, The music video draft finishes within King J's studio where he recites the bars and does a small performance.

Digipack Analysis

Image result for digipak examples
This is Rhianna's Loud Album dig pack. As you can see the dig pack showcases her beauty along with flowers showing her feminine side. The album promotes feminism as she shows the pureness and innocence of a woman. Both CDs have a flower on them showing elegance.Image result for digipak examples

This is Nicole Scherzinger's Killer Love. It portrays her vurnability as she is slightly naked to the left and only has the fur coat to warm her. The songfest seems to be very slow beat songs as well just looking at the names. It a album pushing her as an artist

The Daft Punk dig pack is very unique. The reason why is because it is very simple in turns of the front side. Then it has an advanced technology look with the inner work of the helmet. However the CDs look like 90s vinyl.

Image result for artist magazine advert

This is a magazine advert with iconic figure head of the grime scene "Skepta", in the image it shows his style and seriousness about music as well as promotes his grime group under him, Boy Better Know aka BBK. The magazine advert is quite simple and shows all that is needed without making waste of negative space. I will use this as a point to make my magazine advert somewhat simple as well.

Mise en scene pt 2 (BIG FLOP)

So, we have run into a little dead end. The props i got us to buy where useless. This is because after waiting an agonizing 9 days for them to come. It turns out to be too good to be true. You the chains we bought turned out to be a lot smaller in person. In fact so small they cant even fit on my head. So it turned out to be a waste of money its alright though we will find another way or something . Lucky the ring i bought did fit even though its uncomfortable tight and requires butter and lotion to remove.

Artist Logo

These are the Logos that Ghansyam made while i did some record label research on OVO Sound. I personally prefer the bottom one since it seems easy to show to the public and get the fans to do with their hands embracing the support for King J. The reason why Ghansyam made it is because he does graphics and would be the best man for the job.

Mise en scene p1

My group has decided to join me to buy jewelry for our artist King J, we all agreed that this would be important if we wanted out artist to look like a real Hip-Hop artist. So we went on Ebay, and Amazon to purchase some. We found a total of 3. One which had an A within a circle. Another was a cross which little diamond(doubt it was real cuz all three added up to $10 because it was order from america, which i paid for half and the others paid the other half. The last on was a ring which was black with silver in the middle.

Mood Board In the making

Yesterday we started our mood board, we decided to make it a 3d triangle to show our Artist "King J's" Record Label Triangle. We then included pictures that are true to hip hop including the cultures, artist, and other iconic iconography to our genre
